Baseball Recap: Bell Takes a Loss

Bell played against Branford on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

Chance Mandarino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brandon Aguilar was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Jordan Spears also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Bell has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Branford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6.

Looking ahead, Bell will head out to take on Trenton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Branford, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Williston at 7:00 p.m. The Red Devils will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
