Basketball Recap: Middleton Tigers vs. Humboldt Vikings
Middleton lost against Humboldt back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Middleton Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Humboldt Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Vikings are ranked 97th).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Woody, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 13 points and six boards. What's more, Woody also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Savion Hoyle, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Middleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.
Middleton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Humboldt, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-5.
Looking ahead, Middleton will venture away from home to challenge Clarksburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Middleton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. Humboldt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
