Baseball Game Preview: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Liberty Lions

The Pinnacle Pioneers will head out to take on the Liberty Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.

Pinnacle came up short against O'Connor on Thursday, falling 7-1. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pinnacle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Petroff, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Trenton Pater also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Liberty took on Boulder Creek on Thursday. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted against the Jaguars since February 26, 2022.

Liberty pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Pinnacle, they now have a losing record of 10-11-1.

Pinnacle couldn't quite finish off Liberty when the teams last played back in March and fell 10-8. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
