Baseball Preview: Switzerland County Pacers vs. Southwestern Rebels
Switzerland County hasn't had much luck against Southwestern recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Pacers will take on the Rebels at 5:30 p.m.
Switzerland County blew Jac-Cen-Del out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Jac-Cen-Del got their revenge. The Pacers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-1.
Roman Hite was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Hite was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Southwestern entered their tilt with Milan on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Indians.
Braxton Lewis and Jeter Chatham did most of the damage at the plate: Lewis went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base, while Chatham went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Southwestern pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Switzerland County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
