Basketball Game Preview: Lutheran-Northeast Eagles vs. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears

The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles will head out to face off against the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Lutheran-Northeast came up short against Norfolk Catholic and fell 50-40. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

The losing side was boosted by Ian McDoanld, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 16 points. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Artagnan Taylor, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They were outmatched by Battle Creek and fell 80-30. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-16.

Lutheran-Northeast will have to keep a close watch on Eli Haisch and Caleb Erwin, a pair of players who had a big impact on Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's prior game. Haisch had nine points, while Erwin scored four points. Paxton Hoeppner also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Lutheran-Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Lutheran-Northeast took their win against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 57-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lutheran-Northeast since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
