Softball Game Preview: Ville Platte Bulldogs vs. Elizabeth Bulldogs

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Ville Platte has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

On Wednesday, Ville Platte came up short against Breaux Bridge and fell 12-9.

Laila Lewis and Janaih Leday did some serious damage despite the final result: Lewis scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Leday scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three hits gave Lewis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Bias, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth was able to grind out a solid win over Singer on Tuesday, taking the game 12-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Taylor Willis was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Emma Seaman was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles.

Elizabeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Singer only posted a batting average of .364.

Elizabeth's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Ville Platte, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ville Platte has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .557. However, it's not like Elizabeth struggles in that department as they've averaged .559. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Ville Platte came out on top in a nail-biter against Elizabeth when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 22-21. Will Ville Platte repeat their success, or does Elizabeth have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
