Football Recap: Cresskill Cougars vs. Waldwick/Midland Park Warriors
Cresskill lost against Waldwick/Midland Park back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars were outmatched by the Warriors and fell 53-20. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cresskill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Lewin, who threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (94 yards to be exact) went to Nicholas Giella, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Dylan Ferrara had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 237 yards and three scores while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 78 yards and one TD for Waldwick/Midland Park. What's more, Ferrara racked up 130.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Luciano Mayer was another key player, rushing for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Cresskill's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Waldwick/Midland Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Cresskill will take on Palisades Park/Leonia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waldwick/Midland Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
