Softball Recap: Heights Wins Going Away Against Southeast

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Heights brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on the Southeast Golden Buffalo with a sharp 16-2 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Maci Morgan tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Heights got a massive performance out of Hayden Wettstein, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaime Jimenez, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win snapped Heights' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-13 record. As for Southeast, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Heights beat the Golden Buffalo by a score of 26-1 later that day.
