Basketball Recap: Rocky River Piles Up the Points Against West Mecklenburg

It was a Battle of the Birds when Rocky River challenged West Mecklenburg on Wednesday. The Rocky River Ravens breezed past the West Mecklenburg Hawks to the tune of 72-16. The Ravens have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.

Rocky River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lundyn Spears, who went 7-for-15 en route to 19 points and five steals. What's more, Spears also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Tristin Jarrett was another key player, going 5-for-11 on her way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Rocky River pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points over those games. As for West Mecklenburg, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.

Coming up, Rocky River is taking a road trip to take on Garinger at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
