Basketball Recap: Mile High Academy Skates Past Front Range Baptist with Ease

Mile High Academy hadn't done well against Front Range Baptist recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Mile High Academy Mustangs took their game with ease, bagging a 57-18 win over the Front Range Baptist Falcons. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mile High Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Delanie Prowant, who posted eight points and 12 rebounds. Prowant is becoming a predictor of Mile High Academy's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 13-3 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kylie Helm, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Mile High Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Front Range Baptist saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gia Spinuzzi scored no points in addition to six boards and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Spinuzzi.

Mile High Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.0 points over those games. As for Front Range Baptist, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-16.

Mile High Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 29-23 win against Rocky Mountain Lutheran on the 25th. As for Front Range Baptist, they have also already played their next matchup, a 57-18 loss against Denver Jewish Day on the 25th.
