Softball Recap: Scranton Takes a Loss

Scranton extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-9. They came up short against the Abington Heights Comets, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 two weeks ago.

As for Abington Heights, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Abington Heights' part, Brianna Bustos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bustos has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Avary Brister was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Henkels, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Looking ahead, Scranton will take on Wallenpaupack Area at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Abington Heights, they will challenge Valley View at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
