Volleyball Recap: Hughson Huskies vs. Sonora Wildcats
Hughson lost against Sonora back in September of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hughson Huskies fell just short of the Sonora Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Hughson actually scored more points across those five sets (107-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-21, 14-25, 27-25, 15-11.
Despite the loss, Hughson still got an impressive performance from Julia Daniels, who had seven digs and four aces. That's the most aces Daniels has posted since back in September of 2023.
Hughson's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Sonora, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hughson will venture away from home to challenge Orestimba at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hughson is facing Orestimba at the right time seeing as Orestimba is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Sonora, they will head out to face off against Ripon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ripon will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Sonora surely won't give up without a fight.
