Football Recap: Green Canyon Piles Up the Points Against Deseret Peak + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Green Canyon). They blew past the Deseret Peak Golden Eagles 73-0 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Green Canyon was led to victory by Hayden Schramm and Sam Selman. Schramm picked up 131 receiving yards and two scores, while Selman rushed for 103 yards on only eight carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Green Canyon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Green Canyon's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Eli Wheatley and Ross Johnnie, who racked up four sacks between them. Wheatley is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least eight every time he's taken the field this season. Green Canyon received some extra help from Braxton Atkinson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Green Canyon now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Deseret Peak, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Canyon will take on Sky View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive. As for Deseret Peak, they will square off against Ridgeline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Riverhawks' defense has only allowed 5.4 points per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
