Basketball Recap: River Dell Victorious

River Dell hadn't done well against Pascack Hills recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the River Dell Golden Hawks made off with a 60-59 victory over the Pascack Hills Broncos. The win was all the more spectacular given the Golden Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Broncos are ranked 54th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Dell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aditya Pandya, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Pandya's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Nunez, who went 6 for 14 en route to 18 points.

River Dell's record is now 7-12. As for Pascack Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.

Coming up, River Dell is taking a road trip to face off against Passaic Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pascack Hills, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ramsey at 7:00 p.m. Ramsey will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Pascack Hills surely won't give up without a fight.
