Baseball Recap: Port Allegany Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Port Allegany dropped their record down to 9-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Elk County Catholic Crusaders, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Gators have suffered since March 28, 2024.

Nicholas Wilfong put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Wilfong was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Wilfong wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Bliss, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Bliss is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Elk County Catholic, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.

Like Port Allegany, Elk County Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Lance O'Neill. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. O'Neill was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Port Allegany will head out to take on Bolivar-Richburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Elk County Catholic has already played their next match (against St. Marys), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
