Softball Recap: North Jackson Comes Up Short

North Jackson fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against New Hope on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 3-2. The Chiefs haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Darcy McClendon put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing eight innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. McClendon was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run.

McClendon wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Allie Benson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

North Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 18-14-1. As for New Hope, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-18-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Jackson will take on Kate Duncan Smith DAR at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Hope, they will face off against Pisgah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
