Basketball Recap: Legacy Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Legacy won the last time they faced Mead and Jaedon Ward did his part to make sure it happened again. The Lightning blew past the Mavericks 69-44 on Tuesday with plenty of help from Ward, who shot 69% from the field en route to 25 points and five steals. He is becoming a predictor of Legacy's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

Jack Hergenreter was another key player, going 8-for-12 on his way to 19 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Mead's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Seth Coet, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Lyddan, who put up ten points and five boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Legacy and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 24 points. As for Mead, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Legacy has already played their next contest, a 58-43 loss against Fairview on the 9th. As for Mead, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 68-43 defeat against Silver Creek on the 9th.
