Softball Recap: Paradise Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Paradise had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Pierce Bears by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Grace Meldrum was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meldrum wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sequoya Fields, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Paradise's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Pierce, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Paradise will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
