After a string of nine wins, Swansboro's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Carteret Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 18-25, 25-15, 25-17.

West Carteret's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella-Grace Rodriguez, who had three digs and three aces. Anna Claire Oakes was another key player, getting 15 digs and two aces.

Swansboro's loss dropped their record down to 15-2. As for West Carteret, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-2.

Coincidentally, Swansboro and West Carteret will both be playing Havelock the next time they take the court. The Patriots will host the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Pirates will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on October 2.
