Basketball Recap: Dunseith Dragons vs. Thompson Tommies
The Dunseith Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Thompson 63-35.
Thompson was led to victory by Karter Peterson and Drew Overby. Peterson scored 14 points along with three blocks and two steals, while Overby scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Overby is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Krogstad, who scored 11 points.
Dunseith dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Thompson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunseith won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Blue Jays at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Stanley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Dragons like a good challenge. As for Thompson, they will be playing at home against the Spoilers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Grafton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
