Baseball Preview: Bradford Owls vs. St. Marys Flying Dutch
Bradford is 2-8 against St. Marys since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bradford Owls will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. Marys Flying Dutch at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Bradford has not struggled against Clearfield recently, they managed to flip the script on Monday. Bradford never let Clearfield onto the board and left with a 10-0 win.
Wyatt Stark was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and a stolen base. Matthew Perry was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

CARTER REDMOND was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. REDMOND was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, LUCAS BAUER was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was BEN REYNOLDS, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Bradford made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-2. As for St. Marys, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both teams have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bradford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Marys struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bradford might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from St. Marys in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can Bradford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
