Softball Game Preview: Union Bears vs. Lee Generals

The Union Bears will venture away from home to take on the Lee Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union will be strutting in after a victory while Lee will be coming in after a loss.

Union's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Gate City.

Meanwhile, Lee didn't have quite enough to beat Unicoi County on Monday and fell 5-4.

Avery Weston was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Weston was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Chloe Bledoe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Union's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4-1.

Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Lee in their previous matchup back in April of 2016, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
