Basketball Game Preview: Southfield Christian Eagles vs. Inter-City Baptist Chargers

The Southfield Christian Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Inter-City Baptist Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Southfield Christian fell just short of Plymouth Christian Academy by a score of 68-66. Southfield Christian has struggled against Plymouth Christian Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Inter-City Baptist came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Lancers with points to spare, taking the game 71-52. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Lancers are ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Inter-City Baptist's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points over those games. As for Southfield Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Southfield Christian came up short against Inter-City Baptist in their previous meeting back in January, falling 56-43. Can Southfield Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
