Baseball Recap: Locust Fork Comes Up Short

If Locust Fork was riding high fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Woodville last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Locust Fork Hornets fell just short of the Pennington Tigers by a score of 9-8 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Landon Keith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Mitchell, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Locust Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Pennington, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pennington beat Locust Fork by a score of 16-0 on Tuesday.
