Cony was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Bangor 49-15. The Rams came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.
Messalonskee extended the longest winning streak in A Pine Tree this week by beating Oxford Hills, 41-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Eagles.
Tony Taylor made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Vikings fell to Messalonskee. The junior recorded one fumble.
Ben Bowie was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 38 yards on two carries as Oxford Hills lost to Wes Littlefield's team. Teammate Geiger added to the ground attack by rushing for 15 yards.
Skowhegan's Adam Clukey and Grant Benson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Clukey has thrown for 254 yards this season, while Benson has eight catches for 162 yards. Mark Soehren's team's Geiger leads the league in rushing yards with 182.
The marquee game in A Pine Tree this week will be the clash between Brunswick and Cony. The Dragons comes into the matchup ranked 17th in the state, while the Rams ranks 22nd.
The Indians were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Skowhegan defeated Lewiston 24-13 earlier in the week.
