Metea Valley and DeKalb are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will head out to square off against the Barbs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Metea Valley is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Plainfield South hit Metea Valley with a five-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars.

Meanwhile, DeKalb got themselves on the board against Jacobs on Saturday, but Jacobs never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Golden Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Barbs.

DeKalb's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Kees, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Kees has posted since back in May of 2024.

DeKalb's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Metea Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-18.

Metea Valley skirted past DeKalb 4-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Barbs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
