Kaden Walter made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Midd-West is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise. Walter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Midd-West got a massive performance out of Braxton Smith, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The Mustangs are 3-1 when Smith posts three or more hits, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Aumiller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Midd-West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Montoursville came out on top against Montgomery on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Warriors took their match against the Red Raiders 10-5. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won three in a row.
Jimmy Mussina was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Reeder, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Montoursville's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Midd-West, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.
Midd-West might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Montoursville when the teams last played back in March. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
