Volleyball Recap: Doherty Comes Up Short

Doherty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Sand Creek Scorpions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scorpions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sand Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zane Ocanas, who had six aces and four digs. With that strong performance, Ocanas is now averaging an impressive 2.3 aces per game. Jacob Bridge was another key player, getting eight digs and one assist.

Doherty's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Sand Creek, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-5.

Doherty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Mesa Ridge on the 22nd. As for Sand Creek, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Coronado on the 22nd.
