Basketball Game Preview: Thunderbird Titans vs. Greenway Demons

The Thunderbird Titans will take on the Greenway Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Thunderbird beat Coconino 44-40.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thunderbird to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabella Illingworth, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Roscella Tsosie, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Thunderbird smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Greenway had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They blew past the Rockets 63-37. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Greenway's win came from a few key players Thunderbird will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jazmyne Cordero, who earned 16 points and seven steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Buchanan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Greenway has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Thunderbird, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.
