Baseball Recap: UME Preparatory Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Varsity Opponent

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask UME Preparatory Academy). They blew past Varsity Opponent 13-3 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the EAGLES have posted since April 23, 2024.

Austin Dennis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that he's scored this season.

In other batting news, Josiah Mejia was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason McCoy, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

UME Preparatory Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

UME Preparatory Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6.
