Soccer Game Preview: Gainesville vs. Lecanto

The Gainesville Hurricanes will square off against the Lecanto Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gainesville's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Tuesday, Gainesville didn't have quite enough to beat Buchholz and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Lecanto unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Nature Coast Tech, falling 6-2. The contest was a 2-2 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Lecanto's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2. As for Gainesville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3-3.

Gainesville took their victory against Lecanto in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gainesville since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
