Cambria Heights has gone a perfect 5-0 against Homer-Center recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Highlanders will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cambria Heights comes in on four and Homer-Center on three.
On Friday, Cambria Heights was able to grind out a solid victory over Conemaugh Township, taking the game 34-26.
Cambria Heights' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nolan Clawson, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also picked up 59 receiving yards and one touchdown. Clawson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass. Another back making a difference was Dawson Warner, who rushed for 127 yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cambria Heights was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 324 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 205 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, while Homer-Center put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for West Shamokin. The Wildcats blew past the Wolves 30-0. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 20 points or more this season.
Homer-Center's win came from a few key players Cambria Heights will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gabe Cobaugh, who rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Carson Arone was another key player, rushing for 51 yards and one score.
Homer-Center's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Cambria Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Cambria Heights has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 285 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Homer-Center struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 171.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
