DePaul Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against St. John-Vianney as they made off with a 35-14 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Lancers are ranked 57th).

DePaul Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marquan Carter, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of TDs. Carter is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Another receiver making a difference was AJ Larkin, who gained 92 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Holy Spirit entered their tilt with Donovan Catholic on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Griffins by a score of 34-27.

Holy Spirit's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for DePaul Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Everything came up roses for DePaul Catholic against Holy Spirit in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 41-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for DePaul Catholic since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
