Preview: Parkland Matadors vs. Chapin Huskies

Parkland has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Chapin Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Parkland scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 75-41 victory over Jefferson. With that win, Parkland brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.

Parkland found their leader in underclassman Jayden Whitt, who scored 15 points along with nine assists. That's the first time this season that Whitt posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Roy Ashton iii, who scored 13 points.

Meanwhile, Chapin waltzed into their matchup Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 54-33 margin over Hanks. Chapin might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Brandon Hymes, who scored 27 points along with four steals. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Savion Jordan was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.

Parkland's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Chapin, their win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Parkland hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.1 points per game. It's a different story for Chapin, though, as they've been averaging only 59.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Parkland couldn't quite finish off Chapin in their previous meeting back in February and fell 56-53. Can Parkland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
