Softball Recap: De Soto Finds Home Field Redemption Against La Farge

There's no place like home for De Soto, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the La Farge Wildcats on Monday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Ella Koch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Sylvia Krueger was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Venner, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

De Soto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got De Soto back to even at 9-9. As for La Farge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

De Soto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Farge, they will venture away from home to challenge Weston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
