Baseball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin fell victim to Smoky Mountain and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Mustangs since on Tuesday.

Caden Mason was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That one earned run gave him a new career-low.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Smoky Mountain, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will head out to challenge Robbinsville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Black Knights have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Smoky Mountain, they will venture away from home to face off against Tuscola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
