Apopka has gone 9-1 against Ocoee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Blue Darters will face off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Apopka is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Apopka after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 20-9 to St. Cloud. The Blue Darters have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Timothy (Jez) Hamrick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Nicolas Posluszny, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Ocoee entered their tilt with Wekiva on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Mustangs.
Onrique Archie looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Ocoee: the team is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Serico Allen was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwight Oneal, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Ocoee pushed their record up to 13-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Apopka, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Apopka has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ocoee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Apopka took their victory against Ocoee in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 10-2 score. Will the Blue Darters repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
