Basketball Recap: Cypress Christian Takes a Loss

Cypress Christian lost against The Woodlands Christian Academy on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cypress Christian Warriors fell 64-56 to The Woodlands Christian Academy Warriors. While losing is never fun, Cypress Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 934th, while The Woodlands Christian Academy is ranked 134th).

When it comes to explaining why Cypress Christian lost, don't look at Kolton Kurek. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points and six boards. Kurek has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Quarles, who posted ten points and four steals.

Cypress Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-18 record this season. As for The Woodlands Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-7.

Cypress Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-38 loss against Kelly Catholic on the 28th. The Woodlands Christian Academy has also already played their next game (against Frassati Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
