Basketball Recap: Mallory Gibson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Grape Creek

Sweetwater lost to Grape Creek back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Sweetwater Mustangs strolled past the Grape Creek Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 49-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Sweetwater's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mallory Gibson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Gibson has posted since back in December of 2024. Kallie Scherwitz was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Sweetwater smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Sweetwater's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-15. As for Grape Creek, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

As of now, neither Sweetwater nor Grape Creek have any future games scheduled.
