Louisa County won the last time they faced Western Albemarle and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Warriors. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Lauren Goodman and Alyssa Hopkins did most of the damage at the plate: Goodman went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Hopkins went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Hopkins has posted since back in May of 2024. Laci Garrett also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Louisa County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Louisa County pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Western Albemarle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
