Baseball Recap: Prairie Finds Playoff Glory Versus Clearwater Valley

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Prairie walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Clearwater Valley Rams 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since April 30, 2024.

Phil Schwartz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Schwartz was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Prairie's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-3 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

Schwartz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Quintal, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The win snapped Prairie's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Clearwater Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-11 record.

As of now, neither Prairie nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
