Football Recap: Bonanza Skates Past Tulelake with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bandon, Bonanza was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They claimed a resounding 64-36 victory over the Tulelake Honkers. Considering the Antlers' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Tulelake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Robison, who rushed for 150 yards and two TDs on only ten carries, and also picked up 60 receiving yards and one touchdown. Robison's longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Alex Garcia, who gained 200 total yards and two touchdowns.

Bonanza's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Tulelake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Bonanza will head out to face off against Illinois Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Antlers will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Tulelake, they will venture away from home to take on Plumas Charter at 6:05 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Honkers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
