Football Game Preview: Camarillo Scorpions vs. Bishop Diego Cardinals

For the first time this season, Camarillo will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to square off against the Bishop Diego Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Camarillo's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Oxnard 49-0. Given the Scorpions' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 571st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shane Feller produced another solid performance rushing for 143 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 35 receiving yards. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024. Jakaylen Robinson helped out on the ground, rushing for 108 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Camarillo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Camarillo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Carson Machado, Sam Knight, and Tristan Tracy picked up one apiece. Tracy is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Bishop Diego put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Bishop Alemany with a sharp 43-18 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Camarillo's record is now 2-3. As for Bishop Diego, their record now sits at 5-0.

Camarillo might still be hurting after the 26-0 defeat they got from Bishop Diego in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Scorpions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
