Softball Game Preview: Hoover Vikings vs. GlenOak Golden Eagles

The Hoover Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the GlenOak Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoover's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so GlenOak's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hoover will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against McKinley on Wednesday. The Vikings never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Vikings have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 22 runs the game before, GlenOak was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Lake by a score of 3-1. The Golden Eagles haven't had much luck with the Blue Streaks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Hoover has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for GlenOak, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Hoover couldn't quite get it done against GlenOak in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 8-3. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
