Softball Game Preview: Ceres Bulldogs vs. Beyer Patriots

The Ceres Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Beyer Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ceres comes in on four and Beyer on seven.

Ceres' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Central Valley. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Alizae Cole made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Ava Montesdeoca was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Elizabeth Figueroa was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Ceres kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Beyer made easy work of Lathrop on Wednesday and carried off an 11-0 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Beyer pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Ceres, their record now sits at 8-6.

Everything went Ceres' way against Beyer when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Ceres made off with an 8-2 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
