Basketball Recap: Contra Costa Christian Drops Season-High Score on Fremont Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Contra Costa Christian). They blew past the Fremont Christian Warriors 77-25 on Thursday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-10.

Contra Costa Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gerrit Johnston out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 21 rebounds. Johnston is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 23 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Carson Faber, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Contra Costa Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

The win snapped Contra Costa Christian's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-9 record. As for Fremont Christian, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Making Waves Academy the next time they take the court. Fremont Christian will head out to face Making Waves Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Contra Costa Christian will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
