Preview: Coventry Christian vs. Mount Calvary Christian Chargers
Coventry Christian will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Mount Calvary Christian Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Coventry Christian beat Valley Forge Military Academy 51-43.
Meanwhile, Mount Calvary Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Covenant Christian Academy 82-41 at home. Mount Calvary Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Avery Kopcha was his usual excellent self, shooting 6-for-12 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 41 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Masters, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Coventry Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Mount Calvary Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-10.
Things could have been worse for Coventry Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-44 loss to Mount Calvary Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Coventry Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
