Baseball Recap: Plant City Comes Up Short

Plant City lost against Lakeland Christian back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Plant City Raiders fell just short of the Lakeland Christian Vikings by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by just one run.

Plant City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Black, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Black also stole a stolen base, marking his first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Plant City and nudges their season record down to 4-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Lakeland Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Plant City will face off against Newsome at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Winter Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Winter Haven's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
