Softball Game Preview: Midlothian Panthers vs. Chaparral Bobcats

For the second straight game, Midlothian will face off against Chaparral. The Panthers will take on the Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Midlothian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Midlothian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Chaparral with a sharp 20-2 win. Considering the Panthers have won 16 matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Insley tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Jocelyn Martinez was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Aniyah Givens was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.

Midlothian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Midlothian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chaparral, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.
