Newman Central Catholic is 6-1 against Mendota since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Comets will take on the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Newman Central Catholic and 12 for Mendota.

Newman Central Catholic came up short against Erie-Prophetstown on Tuesday, falling 8-2.

Meanwhile, Mendota lost 21-1 to Princeton on Tuesday.

Mendota saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Eddy, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Mendota's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Newman Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Newman Central Catholic took their victory against Mendota in their previous meeting last Monday by a conclusive 11-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
